Webinar: Georgia Cyber Center

The Georgia Technology Authority hosted a one-hour webinar about the Georgia Cyber Center on May 11, 2017. The webinar explored Governor Nathan Deal’s vision for the center and focused on how local governments will benefit from the center through training and workforce development, better protections for information systems and citizen data, and collaboration with the state’s cybercrime unit. The webinar is now available for on-demand viewing.

The webinar included videos of Governor Deal's presentation about the center to the Georgia CIO Leaderhip Association; Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr., who discussed the City of Augusta's involvement; Michael Shaffer, vice president of government relations for Augusta University; Captain Chris Apsey of the U.S. Army Cyber School; GBI Director Vernon Keenan, who discussed the state's cybercrime unit; and Dr. Bobby Laurine, vice chancellor and Board of Regents CIO, who discussed the involvement of Georgia's research institutions.

Webinar participants included Calvin Rhodes, state CIO and GTA executive director; Joe Webb, GTA deputy director; Stanton Gatewood, state chief information security officer, who discussed the Georgia Cybersecurity Workforce Academy; and GBI Special Agent Steve Foster.
